Rick Bateman

Coach Rick is a husband and a father of three children of his own. Through all the sweat and hard work growing in his Jiu-Jitsu career, Coach Rick has always valued each and every one of his students. His number one core value is creating and maintaining a fun, family-friendly environment wherever he goes.

When he was younger, Coach Rick had someone invest a lot of time and hard work into him when he had nothing. Because of that one special person, Coach Rick has always pushed himself to be able to give that back and touch many hearts along the way.

Although his home life is very busy, OBX Martial Arts makes up a huge part of who he is. They say, “if you love what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life.” Coach Rick lives this quote every second of every day. If you were to ask him today about his job, he would tell you, “it’s not a job. It’s my dream.”
